HUMPERDINCK, SHOW BIZ AND THE PLAYBOY MANSION

-

IF SCOTT Dorsey had grown up in today’s era of reality television, he most likely would have starred in Growing Up Humperdinck.

As the son of legendary performer Engelbert, he, his three siblings and late mother Patricia were in the front row as the Engelbert phenomenon engulfed the world.

Today, Scott lives in Australia and has just signed a deal to be the director of entertainment at Palazzo Versace.

“It is a wonderful property and my aim is to produce quality entertainment and bring big names to the venue. There are a lot of entertainers who would love to tour down here now that the restrictions have eased, so the timing is perfect.”

His move to Australia was due in part to three loves. “My ex-wife is an Australian, plus I love the country and the people. My two children live on the Gold Coast so I get to spend a lot of time with them. I am a producer, a manager and have a recording studio so I am really invested in living here.”

While his childhood was surreal, he describes the family as very close. “My mother did an amazing job with all of us. Dad was touring a lot but when he was home we were tight.

“He bought Jayne Mansfield’s Pink Mansion in LA, which was right next door to the Playboy Mansion. My brothers and I were always peering over the fence,” he laughed.

Famous neighbours aside, Scott is keen to use that lifetime of connections to book superstar acts. “I love the business of show and have managed my father for years. Some of the biggest names in entertainment are people I grew up with, know and trust.

“I can’t wait to start locking in the shows for Palazzo Versace,” he said.

More signs of life in the entertainment sector.
