SHARKS SKIPPER BRINGS UP 50-GAME MILESTONE

-

SOUTHPORT co-captain Michael Manteit will play his 50th game for the club when the Sharks host VFL powerhouse use Williamstown at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday.

And Manteit’s mate, Hayden Bertoli-simmonds, will fly in from Melbourne to help celebrate the occasion sion – kinda.

“One of their on-ballers, Hayden Bertoli-simmonds, I used to live with,” Manteit said.

“Plenty of banter – certainly more if we win from my end, and less if we lose.

“It’s fair to say the stakes are a bit higher given Hayden is playing.”

Both sides are coming off Round 1 losses and with finals expectations between them, it looms as one of the key clashes this weekend. “They’ve been probably the strongest non-afl aligned club in the past decade. We can’t wait for the challenge, our first time in history playing against each other,” Manteit said.

“We want the whole Queensland football community down to support us … to our home fans, we can’t wait to put on a performance (for you).”
