WARM SOUL DISHES UP TOP MEALS

- ANNE JANELLE DICKMAN

WHAT do you do when told to stay home, but don’t have one?

It seems it isn’t the stuff we speak about.

Sometimes it’s the hard, true things that are the toughest to say out loud. It’s sad and raw and humbling but for our town’s hungry homeless, this lady, “Rinsin Reading” is a warm soul who delivers hearty meals four nights a week to nourish those who do not have a place to call home. We found her delivering meals late one afternoon:

“It just makes me happy. I feel so privileged to have a home, a car, food and money. I get to go to sleep each night with a full belly but not everyone is so fortunate.

“Mental health issues are bigger than we think in our community and we need to support those in need in

practical ways.

“Most of our homeless will not open up till you get to know them. It takes time and trust but they are all such valuable people. We all need to see that. I wish our leaders would address this

issue rather than pretend it doesn’t exist.

“Awareness is everything. These people are real. They need our support and care, so in the meantime I will just continue to cook and bake ... feed those who need it.”
