- LEA EMERY

A man accused of causing up to half a million dollars of damage in a break-in at Gold Coast luxury car dealership – left with wrecked vehicles and a shopfront – now faces trial.

Luke Danial Stewart Dillon is alleged to have broken into Mercedes Benz at Robina just after 10pm on November 17 last year.

Dillon, 29, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday. It is alleged after breaking into the dealership, Dillon spent an hour looking for the keys to a Mercedes Benz GLE.

At about 12.40am on November 18, Dillon allegedly drove that car through the showroom and collided with an AMG coupe.

It is alleged he used a luxury SUV to smash the shopfront and get out of the dealership.

That car then allegedly broke down.

It is alleged Dillon fled on foot and then tried to break into a nearby Hyundai dealership.

He was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premises, wilful damage and attempted enter premises.

Dillon’s lawyer Vered Turner, of Vered Turner Lawyers, consented for the matter to be committed to the Southport District Court for trial.

The trial is expected to take place in coming months.

Dillon is currently in custody.
