Danger at Burleigh Hill track

-

GOLD Coasters have been warned to stay away from a popular walking track as rangers work on emergency flood repairs.

The Oceanview Track in Burleigh Head National Park remains blocked (pictured) by boulders, rocks and other debris, photos released by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) show.

The track was first shut after severe damage due to February’s flood emergency.

Two landslides occurred on the northeast ridge of the park due to the extreme weather event, sparking immediate closure and ongoing clean-up efforts.

QPWS on Friday issued a warning to park visitors to obey all temporary closures “for their own safety”.

“While the scaling works are ongoing, boulders, rocks and other debris will roll down the slope before being removed, which means staying away from the track is absolutely critical,” a QPWS release stated.
