Inconvenient truth
THE road closure plight being felt in Beechmont is becoming a matter of life and death. Residents and tourists who use Beechmont Rd are being directed via Canungra following slips in late summer and early autumn. It is putting an extra hour on travel times, and could be that way for up to two years. Similarly, Springbrook is cut off – again.
It is more than an inconvenience; it affects freight and, most importantly, emergency crews precious on time to save lives. The clearance of some landslips in isolated rural areas is not easy, but every resource available should be employed to appease the problem as quickly as possible.
