Supercheap worker stood down

- MELANIE WHITING

A SUPERCHEAP Auto worker has been stood down after a video of his exchange with a screaming woman went viral.

The bizarre clip of a woman clutching a pram while screaming “don’t take my baby” outside the Ashmore Supercheap Auto store racked up thousands of views online.

In the video, a staff member is seen confronting a woman with a pram covered in a blanket.

He then directed another person to “ring the cops”.

When the staff member tries to take control of the pram, the woman is heard yelling: “Let my baby go”.

She then removes the blanket from the pram and boxes of items fall to the ground.

The Bulletin understands the staff member in the video has been stood down while a review into the incident is conducted.

A Supercheap Auto spokesman said a review was standard practice “after an event of this nature”.

“At all times, we remain focused on the health, safety and wellbeing of customers and team members,” he said.

“As we are continuing to cooperate with police on this matter, it would not be appropriate to make further comment at this time.”
