Candidate: Diane Demetre Electorate: Moncrieff

Party: Liberal Democrats What suburb do you live in?

I’ve been a Gold Coast resident since 1985 and have lived in Carrara in the Moncrieff electorate for 22 years.

Why are you running?

It is blatantly clear that there are real options on how we can better govern our country. However, the major parties have their heads buried in the sand. As I witnessed our governments eroding our freedoms, rights and liberty over the past two years, I was compelled to stand.

What political experience do you have?

I have no political experience and that’s what makes me the perfect representative for Moncrieff. The duopoly of the major parties offer no real difference in policy.

Outside politics, what life and work experience do you have?

This includes owning two multi-awardwinning businesses, an internationally acclaimed resort in Vanuatu and a qualityaccredited Australian company with hundreds of staff across four states. I’m also a successful leadership and mindset speaker, executive coach and trainer.

What, in your opinion, is the No.1 issue facing voters in your electorate?

To be honest there are two major issues facing the electorate, cost of living and trust in government. It’s no secret fuel at record highs, even with the recent excise cut, housing availability and affordability approaching crisis levels, and inflation heading into dangerous territory means people need more money just to live and the major parties don’t have a concrete plan on how to solve this dire situation. Second, because of the mandates and government overreach for the past two years, people’s trust that the government is working on their behalf has been lost and this is something I want to restore.

If elected, what will be your priority when you enter the new parliament?

My first point of business will be to fulfil my promise to the constituents and fight for the policies and plans I have announced to help get Australia back on track. I am a woman of my word, and my word is my bond. I will always serve at the pleasure of the people of Moncrieff and will work as hard, if not harder, once elected to get the job done.
