Day to think of all women
NAT Rolland says she hopes everyone uses Mother’s Day as a reminder to reach out to those who struggled or are struggling in their fertility journey.
She said she and husband Sam had a gene match that made it difficult to fall pregnant.
“Two years ago I had to go on an immune protocol to suppress my immune system so my body didn’t reject my husband’s DNA,” Ms Rolland said.
She said during her journey she lost a twin pregnancy and suffered two other miscarriages.
“After those miscarriages I didn’t fall pregnant for a while.
“You just don’t know who is struggling.”
Ms Rolland said she was grateful to celebrate her first Mother’s Day with Onyx (pictured), but it was a reminder of everything the pair had to go through.
“There are so many other women who still don’t have their rainbow babies or women who have had multiple miscarriages like we did,” she said.
“There is so much more to Mother’s Day than just celebrating your mum. I’ll make sure I share on my socials to remind people to reach out to friends who are struggling.”
Ms Rolland said she recommended any women struggling with their fertility contact the Pink Elephant support network.
