DYE IS CAST FOR ROCK ON ROLE

-

SEASONED entertainer Issi Dye is unlike most of us in

that t his working life often involves portraying somebody else.

Next month, he will be one of the few performers who is a touchstone for the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll when he features at Cooly Rocks On.

“I am really looking forward to it,” he said. “After such a long break from performing due to Covid it is wonderful to be back at work in front of an audience.

“It is the interaction with the crowd that I really love and am so grateful that I can still pull a crowd around Australia. It keeps me young,” he laughed.

His variety of shows include cabaret, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Johnny O’keefe and

Roy Orbison to name a few, the latter he describes as the most amazing singer he ever toured with during his many years on the road.

“The era I came up through was the best. TV shows, big productions in the clubs, cabaret acts everywhere – it was a great training ground for all those entertainers.

“Those great performers from that era such as Paul Mccartney, Elton John and Dolly Parton are still going strong which encourages someone like me to keep doing what I love.

“I recently did the Parkes Elvis Festival which was a blast. Everyone was so friendly and thankfully this year it wasn’t in January. Dark hair dye and summer heat with many of the Elvis performers leads to run off,” he said cheekily. “I love the variety of doing different shows and I hope to see many friends during Cooly.” The festival runs from June 8-12 in and around Coolangatta – break out those blue suede shoes, baby.
