LILY’S JOURNEY A PICTURE OF GRACE

-

FOR someone whose life is changing at an incredibly rapid pace, Gold Coast schoolgirl Lily Grace seems as serene as a swan.

It was not that long ago Lily was singing and playing her guitar acoustically at markets with the sole aim of saving enough money to buy an amplifier.

Now, at 16, she has released three singles, an album and is waking up at 3am to w r i t songs with collaborators in Nashville.

“When I think about the journey, it has been whirlwind but one thing simply led into another. I went to Tamworth at 13 for the Country Music Festival to busk and was placed in the top 10 out of 450 performers,” Lily said.

“Then I did a Carols by Candlelight concert with Tania Kernaghan, who was so encouraging and lovely. Through her I was introduced to James Blundell. He liked my performance and suggested we write a song together. That was Annie June and the reaction was amazing with over one million streams. We then did a tour based on that success and released an album.

“My father says I am a parttime school student and fulltime muso, which is probably true.”

In little more than four weeks Lily is about to head to Nashville and has already started making connections.

“There are bookings to write songs over there with other artists every day. It is motivating me to do well and make the most of every opportunity. Also, I found out that one of my songs made the top 100 on country radio which is very special,” she said.

A star in the making.
