Social media star ‘upset’ and ‘confused’ after police raid

- CRYSTAL FOX

A CONTROVERSIAL social media identity says he is “upset” and “confused” after police raided his family home and “slammed him to the ground” – with what he claims is “no evidence”.

The businessman and influencer dubbed Candyman 2.0, Troy “Candy” Williams’ home was raided by police on Thursday night while he, his partner Anita and ninemonth- old son Saint were w asleep. He posted a video to his Instagram showing the damage resulting from the raid after police broke in his door with a battering ram. Footage shows his son Saint startled in his cot after hearing the noises from downstairs.

“They slammed me to the ground in front of my fiance and my kid,” Mr Williams said.

“They gave me a warrant for drug trafficking, which is absolutely ridiculous. I kept asking ‘ why and what’s happened’ and they said people had rang up on Crime Stoppers.”

On Thursday afternoon, Queensland Police released a statement that advised detectives had raided multiple properties on the Coast, as a part of an active investigation.

A police spokesperson said no one was arrested. Mr Williams told the Bulletin police only found prescription pain killers which his friend had left behind. He said the raids left damage to his home and workplace.

“I don’t see how my mate’s painkillers are linked to an investigation,” he said.

“We aren’t drug traffickers, never have and never will be.”

In response to a Bulletin question about the raid on Mr Williams’ home, police said: “For privacy reasons we can’t search people by name and confirm whether or not they have been charged with a crime or are being investigated for a crime.”
