CELTICS Basketball Club stalwart Steve Jacobson will be posthumously awarded Gold Coast Basketball life membership in honour of his service to the game.

Gold Coast Basketball chairman Joel Mcinnes said the committee met a few weeks ago and voted to award life membership to Jacobson, who was part of the association for more than two decades, though he died before official recognition was possible.

“I heard about two months ago that he was unwell. We had a meeting about handing Steve life membership, but unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to do it in person because he was in hospital,” Mcinnes said.
