Strong Suns can move on to new era at stadium

-

THE Gold Coast Suns enjoyed a season of stability in 2022. In fact the Gold Coast Bulletin in an editorial earlier this year made the very point that the AFL club seems to have all of the right pieces in place both on the field and within its management to take some big leaps forward in 2023.

Now no club in the Australian professional football landscape can simply just shrug off losing sponsors worth millions of dollars.

After all, these are tough economic times that we live in.

But the noise coming out of Carrara suggests that the Suns are well positioned for the change of sponsors and some great news is only around the corner.

In fact the biggest thing for many a sporting fan to contend with will be wrapping their head around a new name for the club’s home base.

For so many years it has been a case of “heading out to Metricon to see the Suns game today”.

The name itself had become part of the Gold Coast fabric in that time.

But whatever the stadium is called next, it will simply take some getting used to for fans.

And no matter what that name is, this will not slow the rise of the Suns.

With coach Stuart Dew in place and an amazing array of talent including Matt Rowell, Ben Ainsworth, Noah Anderson and Touk Miller, things will certainly be bright on the field.

And off the park, CEO Mark Evans and his team have found the formula to ensure support from fans, the community and corporates will always be strong.

Change is inevitable, but the Suns have a clear path forward and the stability to navigate change no matter what form it may take.
