What is your Saturday routine? If I’m not away travelling, I am normally up early(ish) about 6am and the first thing I’ll do is get a workout in. This is the time I love the most as my kids’ sports are on Friday nights and Sundays so I can relax, make a coffee and read The Courier-mail from front to back.

What is a must-do for you on the weekend?

I try and get a couple of workouts in over the weekend and a run with my partner Nina and a gym session. I also love seeking out the beach. The best Sunshine Coast beach for me is at Cotton Tree and my favourite Gold Coast beach is the Palm Beach dog off-leash beach where I can let my dog Lulu go nuts.

Local coffee haunt? Smug Fig, Stones Corner. The ambience is on point and most importantly the coffee is great.

Best spot for a date night? In Brisbane, Melrose Restaurant. On the Gold Coast, Bonita Bonita.

Favourite takeaway? Cheeky Poke offers the healthiest dishes compared to other options. The chicken, coconut, lemongrass and chilli miso bone broth soup dish is the best!

First thing you do when you get home?

Kick off shoes, play with Lulu, turn on Fox Sports News and the coffee machine.

When and where do you exercise? I exercise at a few locations as I spend my time between Brisbane and Gold Coast. When I’m in Brisbane I normally run a couple of times per week around the Brisbane River and also workout at Atora Coorparoo. When I’m at the Gold Coast I love running and I pop into Fitstop for a session or two. My partner also takes me through a few pilates/mobility sessions.

Best hidden treasures in Queensland?

Lady Elliot Island. I have been so lucky to travel to this location with Weekender (on Channel 7, Sundays 5.30pm) and I was blown away with the island’s natural marine life wonders. Accessible only by small plane, it has an amazing range of flora, fauna and marine life and also has a world-leading, award-winning, ecologically sustainable program. And Jarramali Rock Art Tours (west of Cairns). If you are only going to visit one Indigenous rock art tour in your life, then this is the one. It takes a little to get to but you can’t help but feel inspired by the authentic Aboriginal cultural experience. Traditional owners take you through the rock art museum dating back some 20,000 years.

Favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I can’t go past my hometown on the Sunshine Coast. I was born in Nambour and the family has had a unit at Alexandra Headland for 30 years, so as a kid, every other weekend and school holidays I was there. To be able to do the same for my boys (Jake, 16, and Sam, 15) growing up has given me so much joy.
