Margie Woods
Viktoria & Woods designer
Simple, stylish and always with a sporty twist, Viktoria & Woods designer Margie Woods is a walking fashion Pinterest board where simple suiting, textured neutrals and Fendi heels complete her lust-worthy look. Preferring to invest in quality pieces that stand the test of time, Margie’s wardrobe is a revolving one where new fashion purchases must always mix with the old to create a classic but cool “uniform”.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style very much aligns with our Viktoria & Woods signature aesthetic. Combining tailoring with a sporty twist such as sneakers is my everyday uniform. My blazers are usually worn oversized and relaxed. With the right foundational pieces, I can mix and match across collections and seasons.
Who are your style icons?
I am currently looking back to the ’90s style icons. Julia Roberts’ man-style suits and vests. Kate Moss’s strapless tops with denim. Princess Diana’s collegiate vibes.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
On my recent trip to Puglia (Italy) I was drawn to styles we designed well over five years ago and mixed them back with more current designs. I still have knits from my very first collection in 2004 as well as pieces handed down from my mother.
What are your favourite brands?
I love Prada for accessories, Cartier (currently eyeing a vintage watch) and Augustinus Bader for skin care.
Have you ever made a style faux pas?
My 16th birthday party outfit still haunts me. A multi-coloured, striped mini dress. What was I thinking?
What is the most surprising thing about your wardrobe?
I am absolutely the kind of person who will change my outfit just as my Uber is arriving. To help minimise the stress, I try to keep to a uniform and I have a styling rack with pre-planned outfits for the week. I also use it to plan my travel wardrobe or eventing outfits.
What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe?
Our first Viktoria & Woods merino knit. Our signature merino wool is at the heart of the label, launching in 2004 with this offering before expanding into ready to
wear collections.
Top three wardrobe must haves?
Effortless suiting (Endorphin blazer and Bradshaw trouser). Essential tank (V&W tank). Summer sandal (Landon sandal).
Summer or winter fashion?
I would typically say winter fashion is my favourite. I love embracing the cooler Melbourne weather with coats, layering, and knitted textures. However, after spending time in the European summer last year, my love for laid-back silhouettes and effortless dressing feels so freeing.
Denim or dresses?
I have every denim iteration imaginable but currently loving dresses with a blazer.
Is there anything in your wardrobe you have regretted throwing out?
I try to keep my wardrobe as curated as possible with timeless silhouettes.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
No idea. But they are all quality designer shoes that I come back to time and again.
