Glamorous filly attracts plenty of attention ahead of racing debut

- BEN DORRIES

GOLD ‘ N’ Glamorous may not be the most expensive or talented filly racing in Australia on Saturday, but she would surely be the most glamorous just like her name suggests.

The unique palomino (genetic gold coat and white mane and tail) filly is a dazzling head-turner and will attract plenty of attention when she makes her debut in the first race at the first meeting at the new synthetic (poly) Gold Coast track.

The Toby and Trent Edmonds-trained two-year-old rookie filly has some highpowered owners in the all-female group, including first-time owner Amanda ButlerDavis who is the wife of motor racing legend Alan Jones. Gold ‘ N’ Glamorous, purchased for just $7000, is already making her presence felt ahead of her racing debut.

“We have never had a palomino horse. A popular horse like The Harrovian got photographed plenty of times at our stable but this filly is already getting close to him in terms of her popularity for pictures,” Group 1-winning trainer Toby Edmonds said.

“She is a stunning looking animal, very pretty. We went out and purchased her and my partner Holly put a female ownership syndicate together.

“The girls just love the colour of her and it is more about the ‘glam’ of her, nothing too much about the pedigree.”

But Edmonds says the filly isn’t just a one-trick pony – she might be a good looker but she also looks to have good ability.

The sire of Gold ‘ N’ Glamorous is former American sprinter Moonlark – who had speed to burn and once recorded a record sprint time at Hollywood Park.

Gold ‘N’ Glamorous lines up in the QTIS 2YO Handicap.
