What time do you wake on a Saturday?

I work away from home quite a bit, but when I am home and working on our farm, generally around 4.30am.

Best place to go with family? Now that our kids have all finished school, they are busy making their own way in the world. For that reason, I just love it when it works out that we can all be at home together. Doesn’t have to be anything special, I just love seeing them all in the one place.

Favourite place to spend time outdoors?

That’s an easy one for me – our farm. Agriculture is my life’s passion and my favourite thing is simply spending time in our paddocks. Our farm is spread across 7000 acres (2800ha). On that we grow cereal crops and have some irrigation, as well as sheep, cattle and even commercial timber.

Best coffee haunts? This will likely paint me in a poor light with the coffee elites … but I just love a Maccas coffee! Large flat white for me from any drive-thru!

Best spot for a date night? Grand Central Shopping Centre Toowoomba theatres – we love going to the movies!

Favourite takeaway? GYG (Guzman y Gomez).

Where and when do you exercise? I usually try to train four times a week at Revolution

Gym in Toowoomba. I train with a cracking group of blokes – we start at 5am!

Favourite sporting venue in Qld and why?

That’s an easy one – Suncorp Stadium. It’s one of the bestdesigned stadiums in the world. It has a lot of personal history for me, but also for the great game of rugby league. And it’s so conveniently located in the heart of our capital city as well ... it’s just the best!

Sports event you are most looking forward to this year?

State of Origin is always high on the list for me. However, I am also a huge fan of the NRL’S Magic Round. What a wonderful concept to showcase our great game.

Best hidden treasure in Queensland?

Girraween National Park near Stanthorpe. Absolutely stunning landscapes and a great place for hiking.

Favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

Spicers Clovelly at Montville in the Sunshine Coast hinterland … a beautiful place to eat, sleep and relax.

What’s your perfect Saturday?

Would have to say a long day’s work at my farm followed by beer and steak with friends and family. Shane Webcke presents sport for 7NEWS across Queensland, Sunday-wednesday.
