Kathryn Eisman

Journalist, 41

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO

Arenowned journalist, model and author, Kathryn Eisman is a triple threat – and a stylish one at that. From vintage Burberry blazers and Chanel accessories through to classic denim jeans and a bargain Zara find,

Kathryn’s closet is all about self-expression where her mood ultimately defines her outfit of the day.

A firm believer in regular wardrobe clean outs,

Kathryn’s eye for fashion detail sees her regularly topping best-dressed lists.

How would you describe your personal style?

Classic with a twist. Fashion is such a powerful and joyful form of non-verbal communication. My new TV show Undressed with Kathryn Eisman (streaming on Paramount +) shows people how they can begin a new exciting chapter by changing their clothes.

Who are your style icons?

My grandmother, Anna Reich, is still the most stylish woman I’ve ever met.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

A Burberry blazer that once belonged to my mother. I love wearing it with jeans and a white shirt.

What are your favourite brands?

High Heel Jungle for socks and tights that instantly inject personality into an outfit. We all want to feel “seen”, so I created the line to help us express that without buying a new outfit. Maje for playful everyday classics. Farage for modern, timeless suiting with edge. Scanlan Theodore and Bianca Spender for beautifully made classics. Witchery for easy, elevated basics. Chanel for luxe accessories.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

When I was a news reporter for NBC in New York in my 20s, and I wore dark, oversized blazers that made me look 20 years older than I was.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

Too much, especially on shoes. I recently discovered The Volte, where you can rent beautiful designer pieces from people’s wardrobes.

What is the most surprising thing about your wardrobe? Just how big it is. I’ve worked in television for 20 years and have so many clothes I’ve collected. I view my wardrobe like a chef might view their pantry – full of different ingredients that can be recombined to make new dishes.

Top three wardrobe must haves? A great pair of jeans. I prefer slightly high-waisted, non-stretch. A comfortable and cool jumpsuit. A modern power suit.

What would you buy if money was no object? A diamond tennis necklace from David Nader Jewels.

Is there anything in your wardrobe you have regretted throwing out?

Never. Ask yourself what three words describe the characteristics of the person you want to be. If an item doesn’t convey those traits, or if it’s in the wrong size, makes you feel dated or invisible, let it go.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? 74

Best designer fashion purchase this year? White Prada platform rubber sandals.

Best bargain fashion purchase this year? A mint-coloured Zara blazer dress.
