Titans top brass: Cbus is our house

- Nick Wright

The Gold Coast Titans top brass are imploring supporters to fill the home stadium, noting how much impact a vocal home crowd can have on the outcome of a game.

But despite that, star playmaker Kieran Foran – adamant he’s back at 100 per cent after a calf twinge – says the side aren’t buying into too much of the rivalry chatter.

While hosting the Broncos at Titans fortress Cbus Super Stadium presents a rolled gold opportunity for the Titans to announce themselves as the leading force in Southeast Queensland, star five-eighth Kieran Foran is focusing on the process not the outcome.

He said the Gold Coast squad had squashed any thoughts of what could happen at the end of 80 minutes, instead honing in on the processes that will allow them to triumph by the final whistle.

“We’re not buying into too much of that chatter at this time of the year, we’re focused on getting the win – that’s all we’re worried about now,” Foran said.

“We want to build on last week’s performance, we want to continue to notch up as many victories as we can and it will be no different this week.

“We know we’re up against a quality outfit in Brisbane, but we’re focused on what we need to do and how we need to get it done.”

Last week, the Titans hosted St George Illawarra Dragons led by Origin mainstay Ben Hunt, downing them 20-18 in a tight contest.

Gold Coast Titans coach Justin Holbrook is challenging his side to rise to the occasion of what could be the largest home crowd in the club’s history, with a capacity of 27,000 seats.

While any Queensland derby clash comes with it extra heat and intensity, the Titans versus Broncos battle on Saturday night is one which could create a Sunshine State logjam atop of the NRL ladder.

Just one win separates the M1 foes, and Holbrook has issued a plea to the Glitter Strip faithful to make their visitors feel as uncomfortable as possible.

“Hopefully (the crowd plays) a big role, we know how hard it is for us when we travel away and what a big influence that can have,” Holbrook said.

“It’s a great occasion, hopefully it will end up being sold out – there’s only a couple of thousand left which is excellent. Obviously Brisbane are playing fantastic and we’ve had a couple of good home wins so this is going to be a great night.

“We want to reward the crowd by winning, they’ve enjoyed turning up this year and we’ve played really well and got some good wins so we just want that to continue.

“We’re not relying on them, we want to reward them for turning up.

“As we always say, there’s a lot of things to do on the Gold Coast so if you’re committed to coming out to Cbus to watch us play footy we want to play well for you any chance we get.

“We want to reward the big crowd that turns up with a great performance.”

The Broncos have engaged in a battle for Brisbane dominance with newcomers the Dolphins, adopting the ‘This Is Our House’ mantra at their hallowed Suncorp Stadium turf.
