What time do you wake up on a Saturday?
If I’m doing a show, usually by at least 8am so I can hit the gym before going in to do a matinee, just to feel physically ready and mentally prepared for the day. There’s something really great about going to the gym on the weekends because it’s a little less busy and I can get on all my favourite machines. If I’m on holidays, Saturdays are usually about doing something exciting like getting out and hiking and, considering how hot it is these days, you want to be up at like 6am.
Local coffee haunt? There’s this really hidden treasure of a breakfast place called Kith ‘n’ Chow down in the suburb of Mt Gravatt. It’s a coffee shop that’s attached to a flower shop and back during Covid I used to live around the corner from it and my housemate and I used to go religiously. They’ve got such friendly staff and the menu is always updating.
Favourite restaurant? I’m a huge fan of Blackbird Bar and Dining on Eagle St. It’s right on the boardwalk overlooking the river. They’ve got such incredible cuts of meat, and the wine pairings are phenomenal. As a little bit of a secret, this is a spot that I potentially take second dates. It’s just a really classy restaurant and the lighting makes for such an intimate evening.
Favourite takeaway? My favourite takeaway is definitely pizza. I feel like there are options for every mood that you’re in.
Favourite pub/bar to catch up with friends?
I’m a southside boy and they’ve got this really great pub at Garden City called Beach House. They have great lunch menus including steak, fish and chips and parmis.
Where and when do you exercise? So I’ve gotten into a real fitness kick this year and have really started focusing on bodybuilding. I go to Goodlife Health Clubs, which are literally everywhere, and I have the 24-hour
pass so I can go whenever.
Best hidden treasure in Queensland?
While we were doing Mamma Mia! a few of us went for a hike in the Lamington National Park, it was a 20km hike but the trail was filled with waterfalls and rock pools, and the most stunning scenery.
Favourite place to holiday in Queensland?
My family is huge on camping and caravanning, and we’ve done many trips out to Somerset Dam where you’re actually allowed to jet ski on the dam.
