Inspiring home hits top note

- Aleisha Dawson

Former Gold Coast radio announcer Matt Webber and his wife Samantha Kennedy are selling their sprawling Currumbin Valley property.

The house, held by the family since 2010, is entwined with the Gold Coast art and culture scene – it was originally built by the cofounder of Swell Sculpture Festival and more recently featured as a backdrop for Bleach Festival.

Nestled next to a forest and set at the end of a cul-desac at 117 Aqua Promenade, the four-bedroom, threebathroom house with multiple living areas is the centrepiece of the landscaped 6506sq m block.

The property has several art pieces in the grounds as well as a self-contained guesthouse and studio, a location for Bleach Festival’s Acoustic Life of Sheds last summer.

“A pair of musicians wrote and performed music inspired by our home under the poinciana tree in front of the studio,” Mr Webber said.

“It was a very special event to be a part of.”

Part of the founding family of wildflower business Meadow Flowers Australia, Mrs Kennedy has incorporated plenty of blooms to encourage birdlife, bees and butterflies.

“It has been the most peaceful place to raise our family — we love the privacy and easy living on one level surrounded by nature,” Mrs Kennedy said.

“It will be hard to top the outdoor bath too.”

Other features include a pool, outdoor shower, courtyard with basketball court and outdoor kitchen.

Kollosche Broadbeach agents Troy Dowker and James Roberts are taking the property to auction on April 24.

Proptrack data reveals the median price for houses in Currumbin Valley is $1.74m, up 3 per cent over the quarter.
