50-game Titan Liu keen for breakthrough victory

- Jake Garland

Titans lock Isaac Liu has said they will take it “one game at a time” as the club continues to chase its first win of the season.

Gold Coast sits 0-4 to start the season with the club’s next five games coming against teams inside the top eight.

Liu said one win was all it would take. “It could be this week, as long as we turn up and one game at a time, we will go from there,” Liu said.

“No embarrassment, every club has sort of been there, hasn’t really started well.

“We are still working at it and hopefully we can turn things around, which we do have an opportunity to.

“Hasn’t been the best start but a win can make everything feel better and so hopefully we can go out there and get the result we want.”

The Titans take on the Raiders in Canberra on Sunday before tackling the Sea Eagles (8th), Warriors (6th), the Storm (3rd) and then the Cowboys (2nd).

Liu dons the Titans jersey for the 50th time after moving to the Gold Coast in 2022.

“To be honest, I didn’t even know I was playing 50 for the club,” Liu said. “But it is exciting and I look forward to putting the jersey on and representing the club.”

Gold Coast is coming off another heavy loss to fellow Queensland rival, the Cowboys up in Townsville.

“(The team) was a bit down when they got back but it is all good now, we have put that (last week) behind us and look forward to this week,” Liu said.

“We did put ourselves under pressure, turning over the ball, penalties. But we will just keep focused and keep turning up and keep doing our jobs.”
