Interest brewing in Cauldron

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Stage -

THE building that housed Subiaco icon the Witch’s Cauldron will be auctioned this month.

The Federation-style building at 87-89 Rokeby Road has been listed on Caporn Young’s website, offering 1000sq m of internal space over multiple levels and dual frontage on Rokeby Road and Rowland Street.

Caporn Young associate director Phil Hayes said the property was at the prime end of Rokeby Road and offered an exciting space for someone with vision.

“It’s the first time the property’s been offered in almost 50 years and I think a lot of people have got quite a soft spot for the Witch’s,” he said.

“We’re selling it virtually walk-in walkout. You could go in and run it as it is, but I wonder whether someone might look at something completely different and reconfigure areas to have multiple hospitality businesses co-existing.”

Witch’s Cauldron owners Geoff and Tanis Gosling said in March the closure was not a financial decision; rather, they had decided it was time to shut up shop.

“We felt now was the right time to say goodbye,” Mrs Gosling said at the time.

The auction will be held on June 28 in Fremantle.
