AN East Fremantle resident has swum away with a win after creating the Tshirt design for the Rottnest Channel Swim 2019.

Lana Stephens, who is currently at university studying design, said she has been drawing and creating since primary school.

“Only recently was I confident enough to start studying design and pursuing it as a career,” she said.

“I tried to put myself in the swimmers’ feet.

“I imagine there is a great deal of anticipation and excitement, so I wanted to try and reflect this in the design.”

Miss Stephens said she was a big supporter of the event.

“I love to be there for the start, sometimes even joining in the celebrations on the other side,” she said.

“I have huge admiration for participants, and whilst I haven’t swum it myself, the way it brings the people of Perth and beyond together is inspiring and the buzz is infectious.”

Miss Stephens said she was shocked as this was the first design contest she had entered.

“I’m over the moon, it’s the biggest compliment and motivation,” she said.
