In the Dog House for a cause

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

A TEAM of animal lovers will voluntarily send themselves to the dog house this Saturday.

Led by Hillarys resident Jarrad Tate and award-winning author Jennifer Skiff, the team will spend four hours locked inside kennels with dozens of rescue dogs from the Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park.

The annual event raises funds to help more than 1200 dogs a year that receive refuge at the shelter.

The Tate Family Foundation has also agreed to match donations dollar-fordollar up to $25,000.

Refuge president Karen Rhodes said the In the Dog House appeal was invaluable because they relied heavily on community donations.

“We are so grateful to the incredibly generous Tate Family Foundation and to our generous community who we very much hope will help support this fantastic matched-giving opportunity,” she said.

“We’re totally reliant on the support and generosity of dog lovers and donations made through fundraisers such as this enable us to rescue, care for and rehome hundreds of unwanted and abandoned dogs.”

Also from 9.30am to 2pm, award-winning photographer Alex Cearns, from Houndstooth Studio, will be doing professional festive photo shoots for dog lovers and their pets for $35, to be donated to the home.
