Eyes down for research
PETER Manwaring will raise the stakes for WA’S first Super Bingo event and aim to raise $100,000 to help conquer cystic fibrosis (CF).
Mr Manwaring and his family host bingo competitions several times each week throughout Perth and raise more than $250,000 annually for Conquer Cystic Fibrosis.
“We had no family connection to cystic fibrosis but have since met so many beautiful young people with this disease who deserve the chance to grow old,” Mr Manwaring said.
Mr Manwaring said Super Bingo at the Claremont Showground in Robinson Pavilion would attract up to 2500 people.
He said he hoped to raise between $60,000 and $100,000.
“If it goes well, we will do it every year,” he said.
Event-goers also have the chance to enter a cash raffle on the day and win up to $10,000.
Conquer Cystic Fibrosis committee member and Subiaco resident Lisa Younger’s six-year-old son Josh has CF.
She said events like Super Bingo were important in helping find a cure for the life-threatening disorder.
