Cosmos #40 on tourism bucket list
THE Experience Oz, the number one website for things to do in Australia have recently revealed its ultimate Queensland Bucket List with the top 100 things to do in the state before you die.
Among the 100 tours, attractions and activities, the Charleville Cosmos Centre and Observatory hit number 40 on the list.
In the reasoning to why it was ranked as number 40, Experience Oz said stargazing at the Cosmos Centre blended together presentations from knowledgeable guides with practical viewing experiences to get the country’s best available look at many key figures that dot the solar system, as well as day-time viewings of the sun.
Further, the clarity of the Australian Outback sky made an ideal setting for the excellent observatory and attraction complex.
Murweh Shire tourism manager Monique Johnson said she was “over the moon” with the Cosmos centre making an appearance on the bucket list.
“I was so excited when I saw this: To be recognised by Experience Oz’s top 100 is great and it’s even better to be in the top 50 per cent,” she said.
“A lot of people must have it on their bucket lists, which is a credit to the centre.”
This year the Cosmos Centre welcomed 10 new guides who will help cover the seven observatory shows.
“This year we have an outstanding team which has just started and are all learning about the outback skies, ready for the tourism season,” she said.
