South­west groups gain grants from gam­ing fund

COM­MU­NI­TIES through­out the south­west have re­ceived a huge fund­ing boost through the State Gov­ern­ment’s Gam­bling Com­mu­nity Ben­e­fit Fund.

Nine com­mu­nity groups from Roma, Du­lacca, In­june, Mitchell and Wal­lum­billa will re­ceive a share of $160,780 while five com­mu­nity groups from Au­gathella, Charleville, Cun­na­mulla, Eulo and Quilpie will re­ceive a share of $68,509.

The fund­ing boost has been an­nounced by Mem­ber for War­rego Ann Leahy.


■ Du­lacca and District Kindy will be able to up­grade its play­ground with $15,000

■ In­june Golf Club will be as­sisted with the con­struc­tion of a shed with a grant of $25,200

■ Mara­noa Mu­sic will be able to buy a much-needed pho­to­copier with a grant of $5000

■ Mara­noa Net­ball will also re­ceive $31,260 to­wards the up­grade of a kitchen

■ Mitchell Bowl­ing Club will re­ceive $15,000 to­wards its kitchen up­grade.

■ Wal­lum­billa Work­ing Cat­tle Dog Trial com­mit­tee will re­ceive $29,000

■ the Men’s Shed will re­ceive $23,086 to in­stall so­lar pan­els.

Mur­weh, Quilpie and Pa­roo

■ Quilpie sport and re­cre­ation groups will be the big win­ners of the fund­ing boost and will re­ceive $34,829 to in­stall new so­lar pan­els

■ Charleville Lit­tle Ath­let­ics will re­ceive $14,318 to buy sport­ing equip­ment

■ Au­gathella Dig­gers and Rodeo As­so­ci­a­tion will re­ceive a grant of $8500 for a new shade struc­ture

■ Cun­na­mulla branch of the Blue Light As­so­ci­a­tion will re­ceive shear­ing equip­ment with a grant of $7080.
