Welcome new docs to town

Western Times - - NEWS -

I AM pleased to report on the latest activity and positive developments with which your local Community Advisory Network (CAN) has been involved since the last meeting in February.

As a result of feedback at the last meeting, work has been done to improve the experience for Charleville residents travelling by bus to Roma for appointments.

I am therefore happy to say a transit lounge has been set up at Roma Hospital so people have somewhere safe and comfortable to wait during that time between arriving at Roma and their scheduled appointments and also while waiting for their return bus.

Travelling patients can ring the specialist outpatient bookings staff prior to the day of their appointment to make sure their appointment is well ahead of the return bus trip and then wait in the transit lounge for their bus departure time.

A positive change also has occurred in the Charleville Hospital Emergency Department as a result of feedback from the CAN.

In relation to doctors in Charleville, I was very pleased to hear the announcement from the South West HHS that three permanent new doctors have been recruited for the town and have all started work.
