Au­gathella Dig­gers’ As­so­ci­a­tion Easter rodeo draws rider, crowds

RODEO: The Au­gathella Dig­gers’ As­so­ci­a­tion Easter rodeo drew ea­ger horse­man and dare-devil bull rid­ers into town on Satur­day to kick­start Easter cel­e­bra­tions.

With a 24 event pro­gram, the rodeo catered for all ages from ju­nior bar­rel races and steer rides to ladies open bar­rels and open bull rides.

There wasn’t an event there that didn’t guar­an­tee to keep the au­di­ence en­ter­tained.

In the open sad­dle ride Roma’s AJ Ri­ley took out first place, fol­lowed by Wade Seeds and Charleville’s Jim Han­cock se­cur­ing third.

Ju­ve­nile sad­dle/bare­back win­ner, Ross Tilley stepped up to the shoot and took on the open bare­back ride, com­ing in at sec­ond be­hind Ben Walsh.

Cameron Dixon was the only com­peti­tor to make the gru­elling eight sec­ond ride in the open bull sec­tion and Tyson Burke was also the only rider to make time in the novice bull ride.

In a close tale of events, the ju­ve­nile bull ride had many ea­ger rid­ers take on the bulls.

Ross Tilley walked away with an­other win un­der his belt, fol­lowed by Matty Par­ton, Ben Champ­man and Matt Delforce and Ben Mo­ran ty­ing for fourth.

AJ Ri­ley was prov­ing to be a hard man to beat on the day and took out the open steer ride.

Damien Brennan placed sec­ond and Dil­lon Burke came in at third.

The ladies stepped up to the arena on the day, clock­ing speedy times in the bar­rel races.

In the novice bar­rels Jane Clarke was the quick­est around the three bar­rels and Tracey Porter won the ladies’ bar­rels event.
