Big Birthday bash
AS THE saying goes: go big or go home.
That is exactly what Charleville will do when it celebrates its 150 years and the Bilby Festival.
Festivities will include multicultural food stalls, a street parade, Morven races and Charleville’s Big Birthday and the Bilby Ball.
Best of all, there will be a recovery breakfast on Sunday and all are welcome – it’s the perfect pick-me-up if you partied a bit too hard over the weekend. WHEN: September 6–9. WHERE: Charleville.
TO celebrate Heinmann’s Bakery’s 20th anniversary and the Bilby Festival, Heinmann’s is holding a team eat-off with a first prize of $1000 cash for the winning team.
This will be a relay event and teams must have four members.
The nomination fee of $10 per member will be donated to the Bilby Fund.
Enthusiastic gluttons are encouraged to nominate, but get in quick, spaces are limited to 30 teams.
The event will be held before the festival street parade, so nominate a team or come down for a guaranteed laugh. WHEN: September 7, 4pm. WHERE: Heinmann’s Bakery.
Party on for birthday season
CHARLEVILLE isn’t the only town throwing a birthday party soon.
Blackall is just as old, and is celebrating it’s 150th too.
Blackall is turning 150 this year and to celebrate the milestone the town is throwing a 10-day-long party to celebrate.
With something for everyone, it is sure to be the party of the year.
Celebrations kick off on August 24 with a rugby league reunion match and an art and photography exhibition opening.
The B150 festival is chock-a-block full of activities, entertainment and celebrity guests.
