ONE in four people killed in vehicles on Queensland roads aren’t wearing seatbelts. The shocking statistic has shocked Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey, who said it "almost beggars belief." About eight per cent of Queenslanders don’t buckle up, with the problem particularly prevalent in regional areas including the South West Police District.
A forum aimed at finding ways to get people to buckle up is being held in Townsville, and will bring together road safety experts and other stakeholders.
