Crisis group helps out locals

Western Times - - NEWS -

IT’S BEEN a year filled with making a difference for the Tara Crisis Group.

The 12-member group meets once a month to raise funds and support community initiatives.

Tara Crisis Group support committee chairperson Mary Youngberry reflected on the group’s key achievements this year.

She said their work included a donation to a dentist group that visits Tara each Easter, supporting Anzac Day activities and making a $500 donation to the Tara Scout Group for new equipment.

Mrs Youngberry said two group members came up with another great idea, putting together care packages for men doing it tough in the drought.

“It appears women and children usually get things donated but men, just the basics like razors and deodorant... are inclined to go without,” she said.

The crisis group also assisted at the Bloomin’ Creative art showcase, and supported Angel Flight.
