Se t in th e 12th century, this version of the oft-filmed t le, from director Ridley Scott, tells of how Russell rowe’s (pictured left) Sir Robin Longstride, a hero in the Crusades, returns to England and soon finds himself becoming an avenger for the persecuted and downtrodden of Nottingham. But after learning of a sinister plot put in motion by Sir Godfrey (Mark Strong), Robin and his band of merry men leap into action in Sherwood Forest to avert a war with the French. With Crowe’s forceful portrayal of the noble thief, the everreliable Cate Blanchett as a feisty incarnation of Lady Marian and some startling battle scenes, this is Hood as you’ve never seen him before.
