‘Tis the season for giving back
Carols by Candlelight, Nine, Monday at 8pm
A BELOVED Australian tradition, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has a wonderful history of supporting children who are blind or have low vision.
This year marks the 81st occurrence of the iconic Christmas celebration. Each Christmas Eve, Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl lights up as families and friends gather to celebrate the festive season while raising funds for Vision Australia.
From humble beginnings in 1938 – with a 30-strong choir, two solo performers and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Band – the event has grown into an institution.
David Campbell and Sonia Kruger (pictured) return as hosts and this year’s performers include Dami Im, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, Tim Campbell, David Hobson and Anthony Callea.
