Phil Stacey is absolutely correct about the lost opportunity here with the closure of our car industry ( Inbox, September).
We are too sophisticated to buy Australian and show our support for Australian-made.
We are victims of our own perceived success and the overpaid wages we receive. Our average income is 30 percent higher than in the US. With that we have to show off with expensive badge posing at the expense of our own industries.
This will cost Australia $30 billion a year in car imports alone. Our grandchildrendren will not thank us for that. Murray Roberts,berts, via email
