Driver-free track day
BMW and Audi have already demonstrated what is possible with autonomous control on a race track. In 2014 BMW demonstrated a self-drifting M235i on a wetted section of Las Vegas Speedway, with journalists strapped into the driver’s seat for some perfect slides. Later that year, Audi lapped Germany’s Hockenheim circuit in an RS7. The system used corrected GPS signals to place the car within centimetres of its programmed course.
