It’s hard to be­lieve but the Com­modore’s en­try-level petrol en­gine is the same one that pow­ers the flag­ship sport­ing model in Europe. The In­signia GSI gets the 191kw 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit as seen in our Com­modore, but mated to an all-wheel drive chas­sis. There’s still no con­fir­ma­tion as to if and when a hot­ter Opel In­signia OPC will ma­te­ri­alise, but there’s lit­tle chance it’d have more than four pots un­der the bon­net. The pos­si­bil­ity of Holden swal­low­ing its pride and im­port­ing it to re­place the V6 VXR would, in all prob­a­bil­ity, be even slim­mer.
