1 Stig’s sprint
In 1986, an RS200 Evo driven by Stig Blomqvist and reportedly making 430kw did 0-100km/ h in 3.07 secs – a Guinness World Record for 12 years.
2 Doing the bolt
For serviceability, Ford’s rally engineers insisted that virtually every bolt in the RS200 was a 12mm.
3 Fast on the loose
RS200S went on to enjoy success in national-level rallies and in European rallycross, notably with ‘Mr Rallycross’, Martin Schanche.
4 A keeper for Ken
The RS200 hit the news last November when stunt and rally ‘hoonigan’ legend Ken Block added a rare Evo to his Ford collection.
5 Near bent eight
Ford had serious initial discussions about using the Cosworth DFV V8 F1 engine in Group B; it also approached Brabham to suggest a design.
