1 Stig’s sprint

In 1986, an RS200 Evo driven by Stig Blomqvist and re­port­edly mak­ing 430kw did 0-100km/ h in 3.07 secs – a Guin­ness World Record for 12 years.

2 Do­ing the bolt

For ser­vice­abil­ity, Ford’s rally engi­neers in­sisted that vir­tu­ally ev­ery bolt in the RS200 was a 12mm.

3 Fast on the loose

RS200S went on to en­joy suc­cess in national-level ral­lies and in Eu­ro­pean ral­lycross, no­tably with ‘Mr Ral­lycross’, Martin Schanche.

4 A keeper for Ken

The RS200 hit the news last Novem­ber when stunt and rally ‘hooni­gan’ le­gend Ken Block added a rare Evo to his Ford col­lec­tion.

5 Near bent eight

Ford had se­ri­ous ini­tial dis­cus­sions about us­ing the Cos­worth DFV V8 F1 en­gine in Group B; it also ap­proached Brabham to sug­gest a de­sign.
