If you’re having trouble seeing past the Ascent Sport’s inexplicably truncated cargo capacity, consider the range-topping ZR Hybrid (with more kit as well as better fuel economy) for another $7500, since that trades a spare wheel for a repair kit and 116L of extra luggage space. In Europe a natty wagon version is waiting in the wings as well, but sadly that’s not for Australia. Or wait for the altogether different (and as-yet unseen) nextgen Corolla sedan out sometime next year.
