It’s a shame that the 2.0-litre flatfour, manual gearbox and turbos in both petrol and diesel guises have been dropped for this fifth-generation, Sk-series Forester. However, the Japanese firm is planning to introduce several petrol-electric hybrid variants over the next two years, to help broaden the Forester’s performance potential as well as improve its economy. Hands up who’d also love to see a basic, utilitarian manual version as per the original series? Just me, then? Righto.
