Speed cameras: you haven’t been warned
A NSW Audit Office report has called on the state’s government to scrap speed camera warning signs, claiming there is limited evidence to show that the current system has prompted a change in driver behaviour. The NSW Auditorgeneral claims warnings signs that tell motorists where a speed camera is located have stopped the enforcement method becoming an effective deterrent. “This limits the opportunity to moderate driver behaviour through causing drivers to be worried they could be caught anywhere, anytime,” the report states.
