MAZDA CX-9 WHAT’S NEW?

Useful stuff, like improved access for the third row, USB ports back there, and a handsfree tailgate across the range. Plus a larger infortainment screen, now 9.0-inch.

HAS IT WORKED?

We’ll make that call when we drive it, and feel the effects of GVC Plus, which is intended to minimise understeer and improve mid-corner stability via subtle brake intervention.

HONDA CIVIC WHAT’S NEW?

Most significant is the upgraded safety pack for VTi and RS, but there’s also the predictable changes to bumpers and grille, plus new wheel designs and, for the RS, wider Michelin rubber.

HAS IT WORKED?

You really don’t want to ask that question of the safety stuff, because it means you (nearly?) crashed. But it is useful that Honda has rid us of the touchscreen icons for the four core display functions; they’re now hard keys.

FIAT 500 WHAT’S NEW?

This range restructure aims to keep the ageing baby viable until the all-new model is unveiled later this year. Base-spec Pop is gone; new top-spec Club rolls in. Atmo 1.2-litre four and transmissions unchanged.

HAS IT WORKED?

Doesn’t matter. Wait for the new model, which will come as an EV, as well as a five-door Giardiniera wagon. Bella.
