COVID-19 BRINGS MASS CASUALTIES

-

HIGHLIGHTS To be frank, there aren’t many, although perspective is key here, especially when countries like India saw its market fall 100%. And no, that’s not a typo. Italy recorded a shocking 98% drop, while France didn’t prove much better with an 89% fall. The fact that MG (1.5%) and Ram (14.1%) managed a percentage growth is impressive. Kia continues to upstage Hyundai, with the marque sneaking into the top-three brands for April 2020, while Holden had a small win by scraping its way back into the top 10 for the first time in 2020.

LOWLIGHTS No amount of PR spin can hide the fact that the market saw its biggest monthly slump year-on-year since VFACTS reporting started in 1991. Plummeting to 38,926 registrations for the month means a 48.5% decline on April 2019. Aussie figures also show a 52.3% slashing in April compared to March 2020. COVID-19 is taking effect.
