THE SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Designed by American Tom Tjaarda at Pininfarina, the original Fiat 124 Spider debuted at the Turin Motor Show in November 1966. Its single-headlight face introduced a look that would appear on the 124 Sport Coupe the following year, but unlike the coupe (whose front end was altered significantly over time), the Spider’s shape remained largely intact for its entire 19-year lifespan, and provided styling inspiration for its reborn namesake.
