CHRYSLER STEALTH: THE US 3000GT
As had been the fashion for Mitsubishi and Chrysler since the early-’70s, the 3000GT was built in Nagoya alongside a Yankee cousin, the Dodge Stealth. Despite sharing their centre body sections and mechanicals, they looked surprisingly different, with the 3000GT winning the beauty comp. Initially, the Stealth was more popular, selling 18,352 cars in the US in ’92 (3000GT’s best was 15,973 sales in 1994) but the Mitsubishi outlived the Dodge by three years.
