NEW CAR SALES STILL ON THE UP
HIGHLIGHTS
We’re able to once again report that new car sales have increased month on month in Australia, with even the year-to-date outperforming the first two months of 2020. FCAI chief Tony Weber said he “remains confident that this trend of growth will continue in an environment where business operating conditions continue to normalise”. If sales continue to rise, 2021 has the potential to top the 2019 total of 1,062,867 sales.
NEW TRENDS?
Only point of potential concern to the established top models is the ‘shake-up’ of which models frequent the charts. More affordable models have made a rise post-lockdowns. Whether the market is now becoming more interested in perceived value instead of quality is something only time will tell, but it doesn’t appear that the likes of Toyota, Mazda or the Ford Ranger need to be too concerned just yet.
