Doo-bop Jazz Bar has a num­ber of im­pres­sive acts that are not to be missed this month. Treat your­self to the sounds of Gregg Arthur with Peter Locke Trio (9–10 Feb). Gregg’s voice is in­ti­mate, his style is re­laxed and charm­ing, and he has a win­ning air of non­cha­lance. This Valen­tine’s Day, in­dulge with a ro­man­tic two-course can­dlelit meal along­side beau­ti­ful clas­sic jazz and blues mu­sic. “For Eva: An Eva Cas­sidy Story” (14–15 Feb) fea­tures Lau­ren Dawes and band, who will pay trib­ute to this won­der­ful artist and her beau­ti­ful in­ter­pre­ta­tions of clas­sic songs. Di­rect from Spain, vo­cal­ist and com­poser Nancy Ruth tours for her lat­est re­lease, “San­gria Jam” (16–17 Feb). This is a mu­si­cal jour­ney re­count­ing her trav­els and life in Spain, com­bin­ing in­flu­ences of jazz, Latin and fla­menco. Lon­don-based Anita Wardell and Aus­tralia’s own Michelle Ni­colle come to­gether for a dou­ble bill of jazz stan­dards, vo­calese, swing­ing Be­hop and beau­ti­ful bal­lads (24 Feb).
