Doo-bop Jazz Bar
Doo-bop Jazz Bar has a number of impressive acts that are not to be missed this month. Treat yourself to the sounds of Gregg Arthur with Peter Locke Trio (9–10 Feb). Gregg’s voice is intimate, his style is relaxed and charming, and he has a winning air of nonchalance. This Valentine’s Day, indulge with a romantic two-course candlelit meal alongside beautiful classic jazz and blues music. “For Eva: An Eva Cassidy Story” (14–15 Feb) features Lauren Dawes and band, who will pay tribute to this wonderful artist and her beautiful interpretations of classic songs. Direct from Spain, vocalist and composer Nancy Ruth tours for her latest release, “Sangria Jam” (16–17 Feb). This is a musical journey recounting her travels and life in Spain, combining influences of jazz, Latin and flamenco. London-based Anita Wardell and Australia’s own Michelle Nicolle come together for a double bill of jazz standards, vocalese, swinging Behop and beautiful ballads (24 Feb).
