Patti Lupone— Don’t Monkey with Broadway
Doo-bop Jazz Bar
Renowned singer and actress Patti Lupone is performing her critically acclaimed “Don’t Monkey with Broadway” this month. Lupone is a multiple Tony and Grammy Award winner, who was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2006. In “Don’t Monkey with Broadway”, Lupone explores, through indelible interpretations of classic Broadway show tunes, how her life-long love affair with Broadway began and her concern for what Manhattan’s Theatre District—the Great White Way—is becoming today.

This month, Doo-bop Jazz Bar celebrates its first anniversary! To mark 12 months of fantastic live music at their venue, they’re hosting 12 hours of non-stop live jazz on 22 June. Doo-bop will be kicking off the celebrations that day with a special lunchtime performance in the Piano Bar by versatile pianist Cleon Barraclough, while the evening will see a show from the popular J-funk + Jeremy O’connor. Downstairs in the Jazz Bar basement that evening, you’ll find the inimitable George Washingmachine Quartet from Sydney, who’ll be performing with special guest Ingrid James. This act will be followed by Doo-bop’s signature Late-night Open Jazz Jam, which will be hosted that night by the Sacha K Trio. On 23 June, the David Bentley Quartet will be featuring special guest Ric Halstead on sax, while the Peter Uppman and Russell Bayne Allstars will play at the sensational Swinging Sunday event on 24 June. Another highlight act this month will be Phil Stack from Thirsty Merc, who’ll be launching his new album at Doo-bop on 7 June.
